DESCRIPTION
The Ford Thunderbird rear deck hardtop protection trim is as beneficial
as it is stylish. This 1/2 inch wide strip of stainless steel protects
the deck from a manufacturer defect that causes the hard top to scratch
the paint as well as rattle. This item is sold as 3 pieces and will add
elegance to your Ford Thunderbird as well as protect your investment.
This replaces the need for Ford's OEM mylar tape they suggest to eliminate
the Hardtop from scratching your Tbird.
WHY IS THE THUNDERBIRD CONCEPTS HARDTOP TRIM THE BEST ON THE MARKET?
First and foremost, we guarantee that if you have any problems with this Rear Deck Protection trim, that we will send you a replacement piece... and Second, These are manufactured with CNC Water Jet cutting precision. This ensures that their are NO burn marks in your Stainless Steel Trim. Everyone else uses CNC Laser cutting with Stainless Steel and that leaves burn holes where the cutting starts. Although, the tiny 1/16" burn holes are not that noticeable, you will be better off with the Thunderbird Concepts CNC Water Jetted Stainless Steel that has NO burn holes in the finished product. We also make sure that we used the best adhesive on the market that Ford uses in their automotive applications; 3M Brand. Our Hardtop Rear Deck Protection Trim is the best on the market, hands down!
INSTALLATION
Full 3M Acrylic Foam Backing for permanent adhesion.
3M will hold for a lifetime without causing any damage to the surface
of the car.
Installation instructions are enclosed with the package.
No special tools needed.
Clean and prep the surface. Peel off the self-adhesive backing and apply

1) Standard Hardtop Protection Trim
This trim pictured below works well sold by itself because it's a less wide piece of material like the "Premium Hardtop Protection Trim" that you will see as option #2 below. You can notice the width difference by looking at the pictures.

2) Premium Hardtop Protection Trim
The major difference with this Premium Hardtop Protection Trim is that is lays an even 3/4" width universal around your soft top as opposed to the width on the "Standard Hardtop Protection Trim". Also, it does look a little more substantial than the other "Standard Hardtop Protection Trim", thus giving it a more luxurious look.
We originally re-designed the "Standard Hardtop Protection Trim" only because we wanted it to match up better with the "Top Door Trim" and to cover up an existing scratch one of our customers had on his Tbird. But, after we saw it on our Tbird, we did notice that the universal 3/4" width does give it even more of a premium look and it flows very nice with the new "Premium Top Door Trim". Another great feature is that it covers more area of your reardeck, thus protecting it even more from the normal wear and tear your hardtop will cause over time. Although, we have not seen that ourselves with our Tbird, some other Tbirder's, who found out about the Hardtop Protection Trim after their paint was damaged, stated that the "Standard Hardtop Protection Trim" did not cover their existing scratches completely. That is what happened to Orville Dash in the picture below. This is why we decided that it was time to do another version of the "Standard Hardtop Protection Trim" and make it wider so that it would cover up his existing scratch marks from his hardtop as well as flow better into the Top Door Trim. I'm so glad that I did not disregard his email to me when he told me that our "Standard Hardtop Protection Trim" did not cover his existing rear deck scratches completely. I could of said, "We'll, sorry about that, but our Hardtop Protection Trim, is just what it states; It protects your reardeck paint before it gets scratched, not after", therefore, you will need to get your paint re-done. I did not do that. This is what makes Thunderbird Concepts different from every other company out there. We listen to our friends/customers, and, we worked together with Orville with his scenario, to create this new fun and luxurious product. Not only does it compliment the Top Door Trim a lot better now, it solves another problem; it covers up existing scratches better. I just love it when these kind of things "just happen". Yes, we love what we do.... and, I guarantee you will love this product. This is the part where I say "or your money-back". We'll, Yes, that too! This product is a winner.

Hi Aaron,
Just removed the standard top door trim and replaced with your NEW premium top door trim that goes to the front of the door. I also have the wider premium hardtop trim and this looks just plain awesome!!! I had placed the old top door trim entirely on the paint but when I installed the NEW I put it about half way up on the rubber and this aligns perfectly with the hard top trim pieces. The length and the mirror cutout match this way and it must be the way that you planned it. You have to see it to believe it. I believe that you can really sell this even to people who have the narrow trim. It just reaches out and grabs you as one continuous piece of chrome all the way around the passenger compartment and up and over the windshield.

I want to thank you for the quick delivery of the Hardtop Rear Deck Protection trim. It went on as easy as stated. I was done in about 20 minutes and it looks GREAT! Covers almost all of the damage paint from the top. Now I can put the top on for winter storage without worry of additional paint damage. With Christmas coming I am going to start my list for Mrs. Santa and her two elves!

Dear Aaron,
My wife and I both drive 2002 Thunderbirds. She never removes the roof
on hers and I take my roof every time I get a chance. We love the cars
and the only complaint we had was the rattle in the top similar to the
1950 convertibles with the soft top up. In November while surfing the
net I found your website and ordered her the Hard Top Trim. I received
the trim in a short time and installed it on her car. The trim eliminated
around 80% of the rattles and squeaks. We were not interested in the beauty
of the trim just how well it worked, because once we installed it, the

that it took a lot of force to get it off, and of course the old trim is
not flat due to the pressure that we had to use to remove it. In closing

" I purchased a 2004 T-Bird last year (2006) and absolutely love it. However, I was hesitant to take the hard top off as I did not have any tape to protect the body of the car when the hard top needed to be put back on. I ordered the Protection Trim, which was about the same price as the ugly tape from the Ford dealership. I am so glad I did. The trim was easy to put on and it fit the car perfectly all the way around. My husband helped me put the trim on the car but that was because I was leery of doing it by myself -- silly me. The trim looks great on the car whether the top is up or down. I am so glad I bought the trim. Even when we took the hard top off this spring, the trim looked as shiny and as elegant as when we first put it on. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Hello from Ken Scribner...I ordered (4) sets of the Hard Top Trim for the Tulsa Classic T-Bird club members prior to us taking 14 T-Birds to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the 38th Annual Vintage/Classic car show. As you had requested, I have sent pictures of (3) retro T-Birds that where able to attend and the fourth had a more important engagement that weekend and could not travel with us so I do not yet have a picture of the 50th Anniversary T-Bird in the Cashmere White color that looks so classy with the hard top trim and the owners are so pleased with the look. I will get a picture of this car to you soon.
The owner of the green T-Bird pictured (Pacific Coast Roadster Edition) chose to put his hard top back on before our trip, so you cannot see the trim underneath the top but reported that the installed trim completely eliminated the ongoing rattle behind the drivers seat that was once there but now silent with the hard top trim in place. I feel you have a "home run" product with the Hard Top trim with perfect fit, function and appearance.

I installed the Hardtop Protection Trim several months ago, and we finally put on the top last weekend. I bought the 2003 in late August and only had the HT on for the ride home from the dealer so I don't remember if it had any squeaks, etc. or not. When we took the top off, I noticed the scuffs so the reason I bought your strips.
Anyway, we put the top on last weekend and it is amazingly quite - not squeaks or any noises other than the tires on the road. You have a great product.
Bottom line - well worth the price, and it is a good product.
